| PRE-CONFERENCE FULL DAY GARDEN TOUR BOOKED OUT FRIDAY 7 SEPTEMBER 2007 Following the sell out success of the 2005 tour, we are delighted to invite delegates to join us for our 2007 Pre-Conference Garden Tour. A remarkable opportunity exists for delegates to see a diverse range of stunning private and public gardens on Melbournes acclaimed Mornington Peninsula. The tour comprises: Cruden Farm, Langwarrina privileged opportunity to visit the home of its distinguished resident and creator, Dame Elisabeth Murdoch; now in her 99th year. Truly a Garden of a Lifetime, (title of a book just published), this much loved garden is a celebration of a life well lived.
Australian Garden, Royal Botanic Gardens, Cranbourne a point of reference to the Conference theme of dry climate design, we visit this award winning, nationally significant and uniquely Australian garden, designed by Taylor Cullity Lethlean and Paul Thompson. Our visit includes an introductory talk by RBG staff.
Bass Street, Flinders, Fiona Brockhoff imbued with the unique qualities of Fionas much celebrated design work, this coastal garden features a sensitive combination of native and exotic plants, bold timber retaining walls and seas of gravel and granite to create a waterwise, low maintenance sea change retreat.
Lawson Garden, Red Hill, Robert Boyle Landscape Design with panoramic bay views and a tranquil farm setting this 3 year old one acre garden is a visual delight. Comprising swimming pool, tennis court, reflecting ponds, native garden, perennial borders, rose garden and vegetable plot, Robert Boyle has successfully created a manicured private oasis that melds with its rural environment.
The Garden Vineyard, Moorooduc, Di Johnson Includes a memorable silver garden, intimate walled garden, Italianate courtyard, native garden, vast vistas and stunning perennial borders with exciting tapestries of colour skilfully linked and filled with a delectable array of plants in imaginative and inspiring combinations.
The full day tour includes a pre-packaged lunch en route, refreshments, luxury coach travel, tour guide, garden entry fees, printed garden notes, introductory talk at Cranbourne Royal Botanic Gardens and the opportunity to meet some of the designers during our visits. Coaches depart from and return to the Camberwell Centre, 340 Camberwell Road, Camberwell from 8.45am. Luggage storage is available at the Camberwell Centre for the duration of the tour. Precise departure and return times, dependent on numbers, to be included with ticket information posted prior to tour date. Cost: $105 (includes a donation to the Children First Foundation (of which, Dame Elisabeth is a patron).
